Snow week

Well, we've been a little off schedule, still wonky this week, but holding our own. Hoping to hit the books hard tomorrow. Managed to order dd's new language program, so am eager to get that any day now.

We are also going through a change in our home. The children are older and we are making adjustments and rearranging the home again. This year will be a year of big change for our family home as we work together, decluttering, repairing and preparing to switch rooms around and take care of business. When all is said and done it should (hopefully) be a beacon of hospitality to my family first and then extended family and friends next.

So, back to work. Will check in later!

Back to Business

Christmas break is over and it's time to get back to the business of education. Another homeschooling friend mentioned how her young son had some trouble adjusting to schoolwork after a long break.

When my guys were young we used to make the first days back (two or three) filled with projects and fun ways to school. Maybe we did food math review (used carrots and pretzels as manipulatives), did a science project or two instead of lessons, worked on word searches or crosswords to ease back into English.

Even now, with two in high school, we still try to make it interesting and get their brains and bodies back into routine with some less strenuous activities. They still learn, its just not as intense.

What do you do when you come off a long break like summer or Christmas vacations?

Getting a Head Start

As we get back into the swing of things, one of my personal goals is to stay on top of things and be prepared. I know life throws things our way we cannot see and that we can only handle these things with the Grace of God. It has been on my heart to keep up so much that I might even be a little ahead so that when these things come up they can be properly handled and prayed over without everything else suffering.

So, with that in mind I'm getting a little bit of a head-start on my Multitude Monday, working my way to 1,000 one week at a time.

(previous lists can be found under the tag, Monday Multitude)

11) Rain, to help refresh and quench and grow
12) The infectious laughter of my youngest child
13) A good memory, well, good enough to hide the Word in my heart
14) The Word, everything I need to know is in there
15) Laundry, because it means my family has clothes they need
16) My best girlfriends, we push each other to be the women God designed us to be, we are not perfect, but are perfectly suited to pray for and encourage each other!
17) When my little doggie cuddles with me on a hard day
18) Chocolate (enough said)
19) Fresh vegetables from the garden
20) Birthdays, getting older means that perhaps one becomes wiser and bolder in the Lord (we hope and pray)

Have a blessed week! And don't forget to blog your blessings!

Wow...I know I've said it before

...but wow, it's been a long time. I've been busy and we've had a lot of changes in our life since we last chatted. In fact, one of the best blessings in the past year has been that our daughter is now homeschooled! She's in high school and had no desire to be homeschooled until last year. While it has presented some challenges this journey has been (and will be) worth every smile and frown. :)

I will be updating more often as we get into the school year. Right now we are semi-schooling since it takes us a few weeks to get back into full routine of school. I am also decluttering our homeschool area. My darling groom has decided to move his "gym" to the garage, so we have been working in there. It is my hope that once I have the basement back we can use that as a family game room/classroom.

So, I hope you had a blessed and wonderful summer and are gearing up for the new school year! We'd love to have you join this journey with us!
