Well, today started out bright and early. After getting my dd moving and out the door for her day, my dh came down, ready to go vote. He was there within 1/2 hour after the polls opened and he was 132 in our small little burb. I checked some emails while the boys slowly woke up. Promptly at 9:00 a.m. I received a pre-recorded telephone call from Mrs. Laura Bush.
We ate breakfast and the boys played for a bit while I tried to let my headache subside. When we finally got started on school, it was nearly noon, but they were ready to sit down and work. Today was a big test day for Roughie, but he did great, even doing extra spelling work today. Toughie only had one test, but he finished all of his work in record time. We had some issues over the multiplication and word problems, but he's finally learned to slow down and take his time (mom makes him redo the incorrect ones).
Toughie
~ spelling test = 85%
Roughie

~ Arithmetic Test = 100%
~ Phonics Test = 85%
Tonight was library night and a brief lesson in civics as the family took me to the voting polls. It's been a crazy day here in Missouri with our polling places, people coming out in record numbers. I'm concerned at how close the races are, and will probably be up until I hear more about Stem Cell Initiative. If you're out there, your prayers are most welcome.
Anyway, we went to the library and picked up some books for the reading program, (will talk about more later this week), then we went out to eat, a family night out (every library night). Once home, the civics lesson continued as we talked about the issues and how the votes are counted and we tied in our beliefs into why we vote the way we do. It was a rather interesting discussion and it surprised me how well they retained the information.
After hubby and I watched house, we tucked the kiddos into bed and I called mom. Discovered that my father is going in for more surgery in the morning. He is getting two more stents put in (he had three put in earlier this year). Your prayers are most welcome and appreciated.
And that's it for our day. I need to get some sleep, we have a big day tomorrow. Will check in with you later!
